BENEO – Connecting nutrition and health
BENEO offers a range of ingredients with nutritional, health and technical advantages derived from the natural sources chicory roots, sugar beet, rice and wheat. Under the motto “Connecting nutrition and health”, the company helps manufacturers to produce healthy and more balanced products.
BENEO ingredients offer opportunities to food manufacturers for products supporting weight management, digestive, bone and dental health but also giving energy for mental & physical performance. On top of that, they improve the taste and texture of food and beverages. Replacing sugar and fat as well as enriching products with fibre and protein, they also enhance nutritional values.
BENEO is specialized in supplying manufacturers with food ingredients from natural sources that allow innovative products. The overall portfolio including all nutritional, technical and health benefits is illustrated by Solution Platforms. They cover applications such as baby food, bakery and cereals, beverages, confectionery and dairy.
Beneficial ingredients from natural sources
BENEO’s inulin and oligofructose are derived from chicory. They replace fat and sugar, and can reduce the caloric value without altering the taste and texture. Moreover, being prebiotic and fibre-enriched they help to improve the digestive system. Also, supporting to absorb more essential minerals from food, they contribute to the body’s natural defences, bone health and general well-being.
Isomalt is the only sugar replacer derived from pure beet sugar. That is why it has a sugar-like taste but at the same is toothfriendly, low glycaemic and provides only half the calories of sugar. It replaces sugar in a 1:1 ratio, is low hygroscopic and enhances flavours and colours. It allows to produce sugar-free and sugar reduced confectionery.
Also derived from sugar beet, isomaltulose (Palatinose™) provides the full carbohydrate energy (4kcal/g) over a longer period of time but in a more balanced way, resulting in a low glycaemic effect. It helps to improve fat oxidation during physical activity leading to prolonged energy supply. Also, it is the first non-cariogenic sugar. Being acid stable, it maintains constant osmolality in beverages.
BENEO’s rice derivatives include natural and organic ingredients such as flours, starches, bran, syrups, proteins and concentrates. They help to address the rising demand for clean label, organic, gluten-free and hypoallergenic products. Also, they improve mouthfeel, texture, crispness, crunchiness, shelf-life and colour of products.
BENEO’s wheat gluten is a natural ingredient, occurring in all wheat and wheat derived flours. Wheat proteins such as BeneoPro Vital Wheat Gluten have multiple technical benefits to meet desired qualities especially in baked goods. The
